Abercrombie creates a story that grabs your throat right from the start and The only thing that bothered me about your review was that you did not mention the two strong female characters, Ferro and Ardee. Start at the beginning with the First Law trilogy, consisting of The Blade Itself, Before They Are Hanged, and The Last Argument of Kings - an absolutely brilliant series that turns a whole heap of fantasy tropes on their head, and features some of the most downright loathesome characters you are likely to have come across. I recently completed The FIrst Law trilogy and wanted to share some of my thoughts on it.
